With 3-horn arrangements, 17 South delivers a huge and classy sound
ranging from Motown and R & B cover tunes to Earth, Wind & Fire +
classic big band swing tunes. The band is a handpicked all-star group
of musicians from Charleston, South Carolina that have played with
everybody from The Temptations and Four Tops to Frank Sinatra and
Tony Bennett.
The horn section, Chuck Dalton, Jon Phillips and Phil King felt there was a shortage of quality horn bands in the Southeast coastal area. They set about to hand pick a group of top players that had the same mindset, talent and dedication.
17 South´s repertoire covers most musical styles including R & B tunes
such as Knock on Wood, Soul Man, I Feel Good, Midnight Hour and
Barefootin, Beach Music - Carolina Girls, I Love Beach Music, Just a
Gigolo, Earth Wind & Fire - September and Shining Star, 80's rock such
as Huey Lewis´ The Heart of Rock and Roll and Standards such as Frank
Sinatra's "The Way You Look Tonight" and Glenn Miller´s "In the Mood".
