FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

In order to help you prepare for your event, here are answers to some of our most frequently asked questions.

How many musicians are in the group performing?

Each artist or group ranges in size depending on the artist. The artist you hire should fit the type of function you are having, the kind of music you would like to hear, the number of invited guests and the size of the room where your event will take place. Each artist has its own cost. We take all of these factors into consideration before recommending different artists.

Can you provide music for our ceremony and/or cocktail hour?

Yes. Keiter Music Services provides artists that will perform for wedding ceremonies and/or your cocktail hour prior to your main reception/event. The pricing for ceremony and cocktail hour is separate from the regular pricing for a full reception. We can suggest music appropriate for the wedding ceremony or you may request your own music selections.

How can I be sure that the artist or group of musicians I hire will be the same musicians who will perform at my affair?

Artists that sing or play with a group will as a rule include the members listed in their biographical information. There may be a time in which a member of a group because illness or some other serious reason is unable to play. In this event, they will be substituted by another well respected musician of equal or greater quality. The artist you hire will always be present at the event.

The ages of our guests will vary considerably. Can your artists play all types of music?

The versatility and quality of musicianship represented among the artists provided through Keiter Music Services is broad enough that its artists can authentically perform a wide variety of music starting from the Classical era and then including the '40's swing era up to today's Top 40 dance music. Artists are listed under different genres (styles) of music and have their own song lists that represent a sample of what they can perform. After looking at their lists, you are always free to choose songs you would like the artist to play.

How many breaks does the artist take during the night and how long do they play?

A standard engagement is 4 hours although this can be negotiated. If there is a ceremony or cocktail hour before dinner, arrangements can be made for music to be played during that time. Within 4 hours an artist will play a minimum of 4/45 minute sets with 3/15 minute breaks scheduled around the service of food or other event appropriate times. Music will be played through the sound system using an IPod or CD during breaks that contain appropriate music for the time of the event and this is at no additional cost. Sometimes the artist is requested to play longer than the contract time. With this in mind, a price will be give in advance for this and only the bride or event coordinator can ask the artist to do this. If this is agreeable to both parties, the music will continue.

Will the artist perform at a volume that is comfortable for me and for my guests?

Keiter Music Service's artists will perform music that is especially suited for the dinner hour and background to conversation. Also, as the party progresses they are always amenable to lowering the volume at the request of the bride or event coordinator.

Will the artist learn a special song?

If you provide four weeks notice, and a CD or MP3 of your song, most artists will all but guarantee that your song is learned and performed well as long as it fits within their particular genre of music. There may be a separate fee charged if music has to be purchased in order to grant your request based on the cost of music and the time it takes to locate this music.

Can I decide what type of music will be played during my reception?

We encourage our clients to go through the different artist's song lists and highlight the selections they would like the artist to play and cross out any selections they do not wish to hear. On the day of your event the artist will perform music you have chosen. Our artists are also extremely capable of "reading the crowd" and choosing music they are confident will pack the dance floor.
